BLRT Grupp will build a bridge for Oslo

Western Constructions, a subsidiary of BLRT Grupp, signed a contract with Norwegian company HAG Anlegg AS, owned by the NRC Group ASA, on manufacturing of structures for the pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Oslo.

Since the nearby University of Oslo and the Ullevål Stadion attract multitudes of people, it became necessary to increase the safety of crossing by directing pedestrian flows over the roadway. The bridge to be constructed above the cross-roads will have four directions, smoothly bending in three planes, and additional driveways, increasing capacity of already existing crossroads for pedestrians and cyclists.

"Signing of this contract is an outcome of dedicated work to diversify production of high-tech equipment and complex metal structures. This will enable to reduce risks in the field of activities previously focused mainly on the oil and gas production sector and offshore industry, which only now display the first signs of recovery after a three-year crisis, "explains Veronika Ivanovskaja, Chairman of the Board of BLRT Grupp.

The realization of the project has already began. The total weight of the bridge is more than 600 tons. In accordance with the terms of the contract, the bridge will be constructed in parts and transported in 20 sections to Oslo by sea for further installation.

In 2009, BLRT Grupp built a subway tunnel with a length of 300 meters and a weight of 2,500 tons in Stockholm. In 2010, a steel bridge with a length of 234 meters and a weight of about 2,000 tons for the highway with pedestrian path was constructed in Copenhagen.
