Vocational skills competition Noor Meister 2017

On 4 and 5 May, the Noor Meister 2017 competitions were held at the Estonian Fair Centre in Tallinn.

In two days about 400 students took part in competitions held in 31 specialties. The participants were ought to apply the acquired knowledge in practice, as well as demonstrate the accuracy, speed and quality of work. We were interested in the welders competition, which took place within the walls of the Tallinn Lasnamäe School of Mechanics. According to the final results of the competition, Aleksandr Ait from the Ida-Virumaa Vocational Education Centre became the best welder of the year 2017, the second place went to Termet Ploovits from the Tartu Vocational Training Centre and the third – to Henry Oliver Haan from the Tallinn Lasnamäe School of Mechanics.

Simultaneously with the competitions in the exhibition box of BLRT Grupp the specialists of the company Marketex Offshore Constructions told about the features of the welding process, and everyone could try to make a smooth weld seam.“Our welding cabin was very popular. Young guys lined up to pick up a tool and to try out themselves what it's like to be a welder, while asking pretty professional questions,” said Ruslan Diduhh, member of the board of Marketex Offshore Constructions.

On the first day of the competition, an excursion at the territory of the BLRT Grupp with a visit of the companies Masinaehitus and Marketex Offshore Constructions was organized to the teachers of the Võru County Vocational Education Centre, the Ida-Virumaa Vocational Education Centre, the Rakvere Vocational School, the Tartu Vocational Education Centre and the Viljandi Vocational Training Center. According to the teachers, they were impressed by what they saw and expressed a desire to visit our manufacturing facilities, but next time already with their students.

National competitions Noor Meister are held since 2009. This year the event was attended by approximately 10 000 people. In addition to the welders competition, the best were chosen in the following categories: gardener, carpenter, finishing specialist, electrician, electronics specialist, florist, graphic designer, social care worker, IT specialist, hairdresser, locksmith, confectioner, logistician, landscape designer, hotel specialist, mechatronic, joiner, sales specialist, sales consultant, bricklayer, baker, tiler, cleaner, accountant, tailor, waiter, secretary, administrator, web designer and business administration expert.
