Tallinn Shipyard and Turku Repair Yard nominated for Europort 2019 Award

The international exhibition Europort 2019 will take place from November 5 to 8 in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. For the first time, two shipyards belonging to the BLRT Grupp - Tallinn Shipyard and Turku Repair Yard - were nominated for the SAFETY4SEA EUROPORT award.

The open online voting has already begun. The winner will be the one who receives the most votes. Laureates will be awarded at a ceremony on November 7, in Rotterdam Ahoy.

BLRT Grupp shipyards were nominated by a closed vote on the part of shipowners and ship operators, as well as other industry experts.

Tallinn Shipyard has been nominated for emphasizing on every safety aspect, having its own safety service station with modern safety equipment, including advanced lifesaving appliances and firefighting systems, as well as qualified staff.

Turku Repair Yard has been nominated for keeping Europe’s position in global ship dismantling at a high level by focusing at the same time on safety of people working and protection of the environment.

SAFETY4SEA EUROPORT Workplace Safety Award to be awarded to any shore based organization (e.g. Shipyard, port, manufacturer, etc.) that has effectively implemented workplace programs to minimize risk and optimize the safety and well-being of the workforce.

Tallinn Shipyard and Turku Repair Yard were nominated along with such large companies as Blohm + Voss, Damen Shipyards and Meyer Turku.
