Estonia's new honorary consul in Klaipėda is Arnoldas Šileika

On November 18, Estonia’s Honorary Consulate in Klaipėda was opened on the territory of the Vakarų Baltijos laivų statykla shipyard owned by BLRT Grupp. Arnoldas Šileika, CEO of the Vakarų laivų gamyklа Group, has been appointed honorary consul.

Over the last 18 years, Arnoldas Šileika successfully manages the Vakarų laivų gamyklа Group, one of the largest employers in Klaipėda and Lithuania. BLRT Group is the biggest Estonian investor in Lithuania. The lion’s share of the Group’s investments is aimed at development of the Vakarų laivų gamyklа and this investments are growing every year.

“It’s a great honour for us that our colleague Arnoldas Šileika has been appointed honorary consul of Estonia in Klaipėda. We are sure that expertise, experience, energy and managerial skills of Arnoldas will contribute to the development of comprehensive relations between our countries. We congratulate Arnoldas on appointment and wish him success in this office,” says Veronika Ivanovskaja, Chairman of the Board of BLRT Grupp.

“Appointing an honorary consul and reopening the consulate will make it possible to enhance our bilateral cooperation in economy, entrepreneurship as well as education. It will also allow us to provide consular assistance to Estonian citizens in Western Lithuania more efficiently,” said Erki Kodar, Undersecretary for Legal and Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of Estonia  at the opening ceremony.

The consular region of the honorary consul Arnoldas Šileika includes the Klaipėda, Telšiai and Taurage counties. Moreover, the Klaipėda region has twinned with Maardu in Estonia.
